Volunteer Coordinator
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who loves the Hospitality Center’s mission. A people person who enjoys knowing others–their gifts, strengths, and joys–and can encourage them to engage in those God-given talents on behalf of the international students we serve. We are especially interested in candidates who are outgoing, extroverted, woo-ing, and galvanizers, who love meeting new people and breaking the ice. Also, teachers are encouraged to apply!
Organizational Summary:
The Hospitality Center’s vision is to see international students transformed by the gospel. Our mission is to share the love of Jesus with international university students by welcoming them to the Twin Cities and connecting them to Christian volunteers where opportunities to know Jesus can happen. Integral to this mission, and the Volunteer Coordinator position, is mobilizing and supporting The Hospitality Center’s amazing volunteers.
Position Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for executing volunteer processes such as recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and appreciation. We are looking for someone who is outgoing and energized through talking with others, very passionate about our mission of sharing Jesus’s love with international students, and someone who has a burden and vision to see the ministry grow and spread through greater volunteer engagement. They should value a collaborative environment but be willing to work independently on projects. This person must have strong organizational skills, have prior knowledge or be willing to learn using a variety of multimedia formats (print, web, video, etc) and applications (Gmail, Google Sheets, Formstack, and Salesforce), and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
While this position will start at 24 hours each week, the Hospitality Center’s desire is for this position to increase in hours so the ideal candidate will be willing to grow into taking more responsibilities and hours in this position within a year.

❖ Volunteer Recruiting, Screening, and Training
- Recruit volunteers through various means including email campaigns, personal meetings, networking, church visits, and ministry fairs
- Monitor new volunteer applications and guide new volunteers through our onboarding process
- Monitor our “Current Opportunities” sign up and connect volunteers to their desired volunteer role
- Collect volunteer information and maintain an uptodate database
- Promote, monitor and track volunteer’s completion of the volunteer training
❖ Volunteer Scheduling, Evaluation, and Appreciation
- Schedule volunteers for specific roles at events
- Communicate event details and expectations with volunteers before events and regularly solicit feedback from volunteers after events
- Assess and analyze volunteer feedback and make recommendations for improvement
- Meet with current volunteers to express appreciation and keep them informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities
- Manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service
❖ Events & Special Projects
- Execute volunteer appreciation events (2 per year)
- Attend select events, including but not limited to our monthly meals and annual fundraiser
- Be available to attend church volunteer fairs throughout the year
- Ideal schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 hours each day; alternatively, 4 half days and 1 full day each week can also work.
- Availability needed for some evenings and weekends each month.
- A typical day will be checking volunteer registrations, updating volunteer information in our system, sending emails, making phone calls, and meeting volunteers who have signed up to volunteer. Underneath all this is getting to know volunteers and supporting volunteers so that they can thrive, using their God given gifts to participate in God's mission of sharing the gospel with the nations.
- 24 hours per week at a rate of $20–$24/hour based on one’s skills and experience
- Mileage reimbursement.
- 8 paid-time-off days, along with 11 paid holidays, and paid 1 sabbatical day
- This position does not currently include any medical or retirement benefits.
- Flex Hours
