Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

Time: Hourly, 20–30 hrs per week

The Hospitality Center shares the love of Jesus to international university students by welcoming them to the Twin Cities, connecting them to local communities through friendship, inviting them to explore Christianity, and supporting their graduation and transition into the workforce. We believe in the holistic good of every student loving them as people, not as projects. We uniquely connect volunteers to commit to loving students for their entire academic season.
Position Overview:
The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for executing volunteer processes such as recruitment, training and appreciation under management of and in collaboration with the Community Engagement Director. We are looking for someone who is energized through being around others, a great communicator of the mission with its needs and vision, and takes joy in walking alongside others in mission. They should enjoy a collaborative environment but be willing to work independently on projects. This person must have strong organizational skills and be comfortable working with a variety of multimedia formats (print, web, video, etc) and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
❖ Volunteer Recruiting, Screening, and Training
- Assist Community Engagement Director in recruiting volunteers through various means including email campaigns, personal meetings, networking, church visits, and ministry fairs.
- Hold volunteer info meetings (once/twice month), process volunteer applications and hold volunteer interviews
- Collect volunteer information and maintain an uptodate database
- Promote, monitor and track volunteer’s completion of the volunteer training
- Work with the Community Engagement Director to build more volunteer roles
❖ Volunteer Scheduling, Evaluation, and Appreciation
- Schedule volunteers for specific roles at events
- Communicate event details and expectations with volunteers before events and regularly solicit feedback from volunteers after events
- Assess and analyze volunteer feedback and make recommendations for improvement
- Meet with current volunteers to express appreciation and keep them informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities.
- Manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
❖ Events & Special Projects
- Execute volunteer appreciation events (2–4/year)
- Execute volunteer training events (2–4/year)
- Volunteer Info Session (1-2/month)
- Attend select events, including but not limited to our monthly meals and annual friendraiser.
- Assist Engagement Director in seasonal or stand-alone projects
❖ Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent and prompt written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective in managing timelines and project budgets.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.
- Energetic and personable; takes initiative, follows up, and thinks creatively.
- Strong computer skills in Word, Excel. Salesforce or CRM experience is desirable.
- 1-2 years of experience with recruiting, managing, or coaching others preferred.
- Promotes and adheres to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and policies and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.
- Some international/global experience.

- Highly Missional. Able to articulate the Christian faith. Active member of a local church. Agreement with the Hospitality Center’s statement of faith and mission. Has a strong desire to use their gifts and talents to positively impact Christian ministry.
- Desire to learn: Constantly desires to improve skills, learn from the excellence of others and can receive collaborative feedback.
- Self-Motivated and takes initiative: Does not require extensive directions. Is skilled at taking an idea and running with it.
- Reliable and consistent: Gets the job done, on time, and with excellence.
- Relational: Values and has a proven track record of developing strong healthy relationships. Desires to be a contributing member of the team who desires their good as well as his or her own.
- Communication: Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of clear, creative, passionate, and grammatically correct communication.
❖ Travel and Work Schedule:
- Ideally, in-office hours on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30–4:30 PM.
- Additional 4–14 hours of flexible hours needed depending on the week.
- Availability needed for some evenings and weekends each month.
❖ Compensation:
- Hourly $21-$24 per hour based on education/experience.
- Mileage reimbursed at the federal mileage rate.

- This position does not currently include any medical or retirement benefits.
