Alternate Ways to Give
LET’S PARTNER ON A GIVING PLAN THAT ALIGNS YOUR GOALS WITH THE NEEDS OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS.
You have a variety of options for giving. Though cash is the most common, there are advantageous ways to donate appreciated assets. Some options provide income during your lifetime, significant tax benefits, or both. Here are some common tax-smart giving strategies to consider.
1. Stocks and mutual funds
Gifts of stock or mutual funds can make an ideal charitable gift for both you and The Hospitality Center
2. Donor advised fund (DAF)
Setting up a donor advised fund is easy – many organizations operate a platform for establishing and maintaining your DAF, including Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, and National Christian Foundation to name a few.
After making tax-deductible contributions to your donor advised fund, you then make grants (charitable gifts) to The Hospitality Center on a periodic or recurring basis. Many people use their DAF as a means to involve their family in the benefits and joys of generosity now, and also create a lasting legacy.
You should be able to designate gifts to The Hospitality Center on an ongoing basis throughout the year or on an annual basis via your DAF website.
3. Charitable trusts
Charitable remainder trust:
A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is a tax-exempt irrevocable trust designed to fund a person’s income needs for a specified period of time, then donating the remainder of the trust assets to your designated charity. They are often used by someone with a significant, appreciating asset (business interest, stocks, etc.) to balance today’s needs with tomorrow’s giving/legacy goals.
Charitable lead trust:
Like a CRT, a charitable lead trust (CLT) can be used to effectively fund your charitable desires. However, a CLT makes gifts upfront to your favorite charity for a period of time, then the remaining assets revert back to the donor or other beneficiaries.
Using your charitable trust to benefit The Hospitality Center is simple – just designate it as your charity of choice. We are happy to discuss what a significant gift to The Hospitality Center can do to elevate our mission and your legacy.

- Capital gain may be avoided upon transfer to The Hospitality Center
- The Hospitality Center receives the shares tax-free and uses the proceeds to support its mission.

ReEntryReEntry is a vital part of why we do what we do.
Our Hospitality Center community has been impacting the lives of international Chinese students for nearly 30 years. The vast majority of those impacted lives are now back in China, prompting The Hospitality Center to launch a strong ReEntry program. See below how you can support the ongoing relationships with our returnee friends. SPONSOR A CITY FOR $1,330 (Pending Covid) It takes resources, time, and energy to reach a city for ReEntry. Discipleship materials and relations with cities are not cheap. We like to be connected with cities and the returnees within the cities, but we have a saturation point with funds. Please consider sponsoring a city to be reached by our ReEntry discipleship program. SPONSOR A CITY VISIT FOR $500 (Pending Covid) Our annual China trip is costly, but of immense value. The calculated cost of visiting a city is around $500. Expand our ReEntry program and our China trip by sponsoring a city visit! |
