Faithfulness has been a description of the community and work surrounding the Hospitably Center’s mission as I learn more about our 30 years of history. Being the new executive director has provided me with more opportunity to listen to the stories of those engaged with us.
As my eyes are opened to God’s provision over the years, it is clear that He is the one carrying our mission to international students through the years. He has been faithful to us, the building, the international student not because of our work, but his desire to see his name extended to others through us. What a confident state to reside in, that he is providing financially, volunteers, prayer, staff, and so much more so that we can participate in sharing his love to the nations. They are in our backyard and we can love on them today. Faithfulness doesn’t bring a rush of emotion every day. We don’t see the joys and results of faithful daily work as often as we likely want then. But the Lord knows our needs and desires and does bring us into his plan at his timing. My prayer is your faithfulness returned to him, with me, with the Hospitality Center team, will encourage you as you see it around you. "The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it". 1 Thessalonians 5:24. Even if you do not burn with passion for international student ministry, showing a youthful exuberance, do you have a quiet faithfulness in prayer and hope and other efforts that want and try to share Jesus with others/have others know Jesus? Then the mission is still within you. Before I applied for the job, I asked my wife “Can I lead the organization if I do not have the same passion as when I was program coordinator?” She wisely told me that just because at 25 you had youthful vigor and passion then, you now have a quiet faithfulness to the mission that is just as important, maturing in your over time.” Not only do I believe her to be right, that excitement is being made new in a different way. I look forward to sharing that with you, as we are faithful together in what God is calling us – He will do it. Do you believe that with me?
